Led by Ken Song, virtuoso guitarist and first-call musician on the Southern California jazz scene, the Standards Combo is where students immerse themselves in the timeless jazz repertoire. From bebop classics to great American songbook favorites, the group develops fluency in standard forms while sharpening improvisation, comping, and ensemble interaction.

With Ken’s expert guidance, students learn the subtle art of phrasing, chord voicings, and rhythmic feel that bring standards to life on stage. Known for his impeccable technique and versatility, Ken draws on his wealth of professional experience to mentor players of all instruments in creating polished, expressive performances.
